Darjeeling

The Darjeeling tea plantations are in the foothills of the Himalayas in West Bengal, India. They are famous for producing some of the finest black tea in the world

The tea leaves are hand-picked and processed using traditional methods, which gives the tea its unique flavor and aroma.

The first Darjeeling tea plantation was established in 1841 by the British. The industry grew rapidly in the following decades, and by the early 20th century, there were over 80 plantations in the region. The tea industry played an important role in the economic development of Darjeeling, and it continues to be a major source of employment and revenue for the region today.

The Darjeeling tea industry is regulated by the Tea Board of India, which sets quality standards and controls the marketing of Darjeeling tea. The tea is sold under a Protected Geographical Indication (PGI), which ensures that it is grown, processed, and packaged in the Darjeeling region.

Darjeeling tea is known for its delicate flavor and aroma. It is often described as having a "flowery" or "fruity" note, with a hint of sweetness. The tea is best enjoyed black, with milk and sugar to taste.
