The name "Mission Hill" is thought to have come from the early Scottish missionaries who had a mission in the area. The missionaries played an important role in the development of the tea industry in Darjeeling, and the name Mission Hill is a reminder of their legacy. Mission Hill Tea Estate was established in 1917. The estate is in the Darjeeling district of West Bengal, India, at an altitude of 1,300 to 2,500 feet above sea level. The estate is presently owned and managed by Asha Tea Co., a family-owned enterprise with over a hundred years of experience in the tea industry.
