KORANGANI TEA ESTATE

About Korangani Tea Estate

Jadav Prasad Chaliha, a notable Assamese freedom fighter and innovative tea planter, undertook the challenging mission of clearing a densely forested area called "Korangani," named after the abundance of "Koranga" trees, in 1926. He successfully planted tea on this land. Despite facing a harsh environment and colonial harassment, his perseverance paid off and the plantation began to thrive.

From 1953 to 1970, Debabala Chaliha, his late wife, managed the plantations, which also included the nearby Azizbagh Tea Estate by that time. Debabala Chaliha's dedication and hard work paid off as she successfully established Korangani Tea Estate as a producer of high-quality teas that were sold at the Tea Auction Centre in Calcutta. The estate is in the central region of the Brahmaputra Valley, renowned for its fertile soil and pleasant, damp weather.

Korangani Tea Estate has been maintaining the values of reliability and excellence for two generations, and it currently produces over a million kilograms of tea every year. Korangani Tea Co. Pvt. Ltd. introduced Korangani Tea in packaged form for the first time in Maharashtra in 1994. In 1997, the company introduced its products to North-East India through its distribution division, DKD Marketing. Since then, it has become a market leader in the region. Korangani Tea is now widely available in most retail outlets, including Big Bazaar, across eastern India. Soon, the western and northern regions of India will have access to it.

At Korangani Tea Estate and the company's registered headquarters in Guwahati, Assam, the management personally supervises all blending, tasting, and packaging activities. Korangani Tea products ensure that customers receive high-quality tea consistently throughout the year at reasonable prices. This is made possible by sourcing tea from their own gardens, which are always fresh and in season.

The Korangani Tea Estate has an annual production of more than one million kilograms of tea. The tea is blended, tasted, and packaged under the personal supervision of the management. Korangani Tea is a renowned tea brand that is recognized for its superior quality and consistent flavour.
