About Happy Valley Tea Estate

In 1854, David Wilson, an Englishman, established a tea garden in the Darjeeling district of India. David Wilson embarked on a journey to the Darjeeling district of India. He had a vision of creating a beautiful tea garden in this exotic land. With great determination and hard work, he established the tea garden and began cultivating tea leaves. And thus, the story of Darjeeling tea began.

The Wilson Tea Estate has been successful. The tea that was produced there was of excellent quality and was highly appreciated by the British market. The garden has rapidly emerged as a significant tea producer in Darjeeling.

 

Tarapada Banerjee, an Indian aristocrat, purchased Wilson Tea Estate in 1903. Banerjee was a visionary leader who embarked on a mission to modernize the garden. By investing in new machinery and technology, he was able to enhance the quality of the tea. Wilson Tea Estate gained a reputation as one of the most esteemed tea gardens in Darjeeling under Banerjee's guidance.

 

Banerjee purchased the Windsor Tea Estate, a neighboring tea garden, in 1929. He merged the two gardens under the name of Happy Valley Tea Estate. The Happy Valley Tea Estate has become one of the most prosperous and expansive tea gardens in Darjeeling. The tea it produces is of high quality and is renowned and cherished globally.
