About Gopalpur Tea Estate

Meet Gopal Chandra Ghosh, a man with a story to tell. Gopal Chandra Ghosh made a strategic decision to venture into the lucrative tea industry. He purchased a vast tract of land located in the Madarihat subdivision of the Jalpaiguri district in West Bengal. After that, he proceeded to plant tea bushes on the land and construct a tea factory. The Gopalpur Tea Estate was founded in 1913 by Late Gopal Chandra Ghosh.

Following in the footsteps of his father, the late Gopal Chandra Ghosh, his son, the late Birendra Chandra Ghosh, rose to the occasion and skilfully expanded their family business as a prominent landlord in the Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal. During the tenure of the esteemed Late Birendra Chandra Ghosh, a total of 8 exquisite tea gardens were owned by them.

The management of Gopalpur Tea Estate underwent a transformation in 1993. "THE GOPALPUR TEA CO. LTD." was taken over by the SOMANIS of Inland Group, who now lead the charge towards a brighter future. The esteemed Company and Garden now proudly fall under the ownership of the Inland Group.

The Directors who oversaw the operations of The Gopalpur Tea Co Ltd are Sweta Somani, Raj Kumar Somani. Together, they worked tirelessly to ensure that the company ran smoothly and produced the finest tea for their customers.

The Gopalpur Tea Estate produces black tea. The Gopalpur Tea Estate Black CTC tea is known for its strong flavour and full body. It is made from the finest tea leaves, which are carefully processed to ensure that the tea retains its natural flavour and aroma. The process involves passing tea leaves through a set of cylindrical rollers that are equipped with numerous small sharp "teeth". These teeth effectively crush, tear, and curl the tea leaves. The tea is then packed in airtight containers to preserve its freshness.
