DORJE TEAS

About Dorje

Once upon a time, there was a small tea garden in the foothills of the Himalayas. The garden was called Selim Hill, and it had been in the same family for generations. The tea from Selim Hill was known for its delicate flavor and its rich aroma.

One day, two young men named Ashish and Anurag decided to leave their jobs in the city and return to their family's tea garden. They were inspired to do so after seeing the decline of the Darjeeling Tea industry in recent years. A combination of factors, such as climate change, political turmoil, mismanagement, a dampening export market, and exploitative middlemen, had been severely affecting the operations of these heritage gardens.

Ashish and Anurag knew that they wanted to do something to help revive the Darjeeling Tea industry. They decided to start a new company called Dorje Teas.

Dorje is the Tibetan word for "thunderbolt," and it represents the power of the tea plant. Dorje Teas is located in the heritage Selim Hill Tea Garden in Darjeeling, India. The garden is located at 4000 ft above sea level, and it borders the town of Kurseong.

Ashish and Anurag were committed to sustainable and ethical tea production. They used organic farming practices and they paid their workers a fair wage. They were also working to re-imagine the space of the tea estate, by moving away from the model of commercially exploited plantations to that of an inclusive and naturally holistic garden.

Dorje Teas offers a variety of organic Darjeeling Teas, Green Teas, and Cold Brew Teas. They are committed to delivering fresh, high-quality tea directly to their customers. They believe that Darjeeling Tea can indeed be accessible, available, and affordable.
